          About Us

The Mandurah Bird Observers Group (MBOG) is a birdwatching club based in Mandurah, Western Australia focused on promoting birdwatching and bird conservation. We are a regional group of BirdLife Western Australia.

MBOG provides opportunities for bird enthusiasts to connect with like-minded individuals, participate in organized activities and events, and actively contribute to conservation efforts. Our members come from a variety of backgrounds and have widely different levels of knowledge about birds, ranging from beginners to experienced birdwatchers. Experienced members are always ready to provide guidance on bird identification, photography techniques, and other birdwatching related topics.

Whether you're just starting out or an experienced birdwatcher, you'll be warmly welcomed on our outings.

        What we do

We hold half-day bird walk excursions on the fourth Friday of each month to areas both local and further afield to record the birds of our region. Additional excursions are occasionally scheduled on weekends or weekends away to a country location.

Monitoring of bird populations is an important part of understanding the threats to birds and their conservation needs. The MBOG is keen to encourage people to become involved in supporting local conservation and citizen science activities.

While the group does not undertake any specific projects, individual members take part in special BirdLife WA and national projects like the National Shorebird Count and Great Cocky Count or attending educational activities such as a shorebird identification workshop.
